A product created by a chemical reaction or manufacturing process. In pet food, by-products can be derived from such animal parts as the necks, feet, intestines, and undeveloped eggs of poultry, from the boiled skin or other parts of dead animals, or from grinding down animal bones and offal or organ meats.
